Big Pictures Little People

Big Pictures Little People presents cinema to underpriviledged children between the ages of 5 and 12, who may not have the luxury of seeing movies with their families. The SLFS partners with such organizations as the YWCA, the Road Home, Utah Health and Human Rights Project, and the Homeless Children’s Shelters in our area.

Screenings occur once per month during the summer months of June, July and August. Participating organizations gather their children and responsible adults for pick-up at their location, and SLFS provides bus transportation to and from the Tower Theatre for the event. SLFS chooses films that are child- and family-friendly and also artistic, such as Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and Caroll Ballard's Duma. Each child gets free popcorn and a soft drink to enjoy during the film.

Big Pictures Little People is free-of-charge for participating community organizations; availability is subject to seating constraints. Some seats will be reserved for purchase by the general public to allow children from all walks of life to meet and interact. The Salt Lake Film Society thanks the George Q. Morris Grant Foundation for their generous support of this program.
